About Us

Who We Are

Pamoja Zanzibar is a locally based and operated NGO that is dedicated to the service and empowerment of the Zanzibari people of Unguja and Pemba islands. Our goal is to empower Zanzibaris, regardless of age, race, religion, or economic status, to better their lives by providing them various educational opportunities. Delivering high-quality services to our customers enables us to pursue this goal.

We run a Vocational Training Centre in Chukwani (next to the House of Representatives on Chukwani Road). Our Centre offers Zanzibaris the ability to study car mechanics and tailoring. We prepare our students to receive certifications from Karume Institute of Science and Technology (KIST).

We also operate a fully functional Car Workshop, and we are open to service your vehicles. Please come in today for high quality vehicle repair at reasonable prices!
Besides the workshop, we offer Desalination Solutions to local communities and hotels around the island.

All proceeds from vehicle servicing and desalination department are put back into the project with the aim of self sustainability.

Our Objectives

  • To provide our students with vocational training courses that are designed to enhance their skill set and provide opportunities to benefit the society of Zanzibar as a whole.
  • To foster an environment where all are lifelong learners.
  • To practice a holistic philosophy of education that recognizes skills alone do not make successful men and women but also faith, character, and personal empowerment.
  • To exercise management and decision making by valuing diverse cultural perspectives.
  • Commitment to quality, accessible education while maintaining high standards.
  • Continual development, improvement, and flexibility in educational programming that is responsive to the needs of our students, staff, and Zanzibar.
  • To respect all people regardless of nationality, culture, gender, religion, age, or educational background.
  • To initiate Humanitarian aid programs related to Public Health, Education, and Environment care and Conservation, in relation to health, e.g. by providing excellent medical care for the people of Unguja and Pemba.

Our Vision: Excellence in education for the Glory of God
