Computer Courses for Teachers

Computer Courses for Teachers

Teachers serve as multipliers for knowledge in a community as they can pass on their knowledge to students and therewith to the next generation.

In partnership with the Ministry of Education in Zanzibar we designed a special computer course for teachers to help them do their works more efficiently. In our course they learn how to craft examination papers and worksheets with MS Word, how to easily calculate students’ grades in MS Excel, how to create and present a PowerPoint presentation, and how to use the internet and send emails.

We launched our pilot computer course in the computer room of the HUB of the Limbani Secondary School in 2022. After seeing the success and impact of the course we decided to continue this training program. So far, we have trained 125 teachers and there are more to come!

Training and equipment need to go hand in hand. If a school sends two or more teachers who successfully complete our computer course, we as Pamoja Zanzibar provide the school with a working desktop computer, including a screen, a mouse, a keyboard and all necessary wires. So far, we have given out 50 computers to 38 different schools.

In January 2024 we taught an advanced computer course in which teachers learned how to create report forms, ID-cards and certificates. It was a big success. We are thankful for God’s guidance and are looking forward to continuing these courses.
