Pamoja Zanzibar offers training for women in tailoring and sewing, in cooperation with the Vocational Training Authority Zanzibar. The course duration is two years part-time (Mondays through Fridays 8 am - 12 pm). Our highly skilled and motivated teachers, together with a modern classroom and sewing machines for practicing, provide our students with all they need for their future profession as tailors..

According to the African proverb "If you educate a man you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman you educate a family (nation)," we at Pamoja Zanzibar firmly believe that educating Zanzibari women will have a great impact on society. This is one of the reasons Pamoja Zanzibar decided to open the tailoring school for women, especially for those who didn’t have the opportunity for higher education. The tailoring skills achieved give the young women the ability to create a source of income for them and their families and pass on their knowledge to their children.

The Pamoja Zanzibar Tailoring School opened in May 2015 with eight students. Since then, Pamoja Zanzibar is proud to have offered ten to twenty new students the chance to start their training each year.

To provide our students with more flexibility towards their various other duties, we offer the course on a part-time basis, i.e. 20 hours/week (Mondays through Fridays 8 am - 12 pm). The complete duration of the course is two calendar years. Our students receive a VTA certificate as well as a Pamoja certificate after successful completion of the course.

Every new tailoring course starts in January. Prior to this, in the course of the previous year, we hand out application forms for the upcoming new course of the following year at our head office in Mbweni opposite KIST. After the forms have been submitted to us we get in touch with all applicants and conduct personal interviews with them in January.
